Structure of the Science Learning Community

The formation of this collaborative learning community will begin with introductions. Members will be
encouraged to post information concerning their teaching experience and current position and responsibilities in the district in the discussion section of this page. This information will become increasingly important as we work together to continuously improve our educational practices and
as our learning community membership grows.

As facilitator, I have chosen Essential Science for Teachers: Earth and Space Science as the first course we will explore. From experience working with Rice University's Education Dept., ESC 4 and experience in three different districts aligning curriculum, the second semester of elementary science usually begins with earth and space science concepts. Once this first course is completed we, as a group, will decide which major strand to explore next and design a timeline to guide interactions and collaborations.

The calendar below shows the proposed schedule. Please comment in the Discussion section on the proposed calendar providing suggestions for adjusting the timeline or approving the suggested timeline.
